Connection Speeds Chart

written by Ryan Olshan on Saturday, October 21 2006

Over a year ago on a day I had a lot of spare time I decided to put together a comprehensive chart of connection types and their respective speeds. I did a bunch of research on the Internet and ended up creating the Connection Speeds Chart, but until today I have never shared it with anyone. Let me know what you guys think and I'll make additions or corrections based upon your feedback.

This is great, but a couple of things you left out:

    Firewire 1394b is 800 Mbps.

and the limit of Fractional T1 can or cannot be considered wrong, You have it as 1.544 Mbps. Really it is 1.536 because of the 8 kilobytes of framing data (overhead). Maybe that should be a note.

One more that is left out: LRE (Long Reach Ethernet) Supports speeds from 5 Mbit to 15 Mbit over telephone line. Reaches upto 5,000 ft.

Thanks Kevin. I'll have to look into that and update the chart.
